Undoubtedly, cinema and gastronomy can unite perfectly, generating films with great success and good reviews. In addition, in the list of this post we will see the films that show what is the work of the kitchen from the inside, presenting it with drama, humor or drawings.

In the seventh art there were gastronomic cult films, other comedy films and a 2007 Oscar winner. These films that I will name are the best in this area and will go down in history. Here I present the top 7 of the most outstanding cooking movies.



7 - Comme un Chef (2012)

This French film is about a veteran chef who clashes with the new CEO of his restaurant, who wants the business to lose a star so he can hire another chef. This comedy stars Jean Reno as Alexandre Lagarde and Michaël Youn as Jacky Bonnot.

6- No Reservations (2007)

American romantic comedy. Experienced chef Kate Armstrong (Katherine Zeta-Jones) manages her life and her kitchen with great intensity. However, she could find herself in a disastrous situation when she becomes the protector of a young niece (Abigail Breslin) and gets involved with a cheeky colleague (Aaron Eckhart) who has just joined her team. They live a romance in the midst of their rivalry, and Kate has to find true happiness outside the kitchen.

5- Julie & Julia (2009)

It is an American biographical comedy-drama written and directed by Nora Esphron. The film describes the events in the life of chef Julia Child —played by Meryl Streep— in the early years of her culinary career, in contrast to the life of Julie Powell —played by Amy Adams— who aspires to cook the 524 recipes of the Child's cookbook for a year.

4- Burnt (2015)

American comedy-drama starring Bradley Cooper, Daniel Brühl, Umma Thurman and Emma Thompson. Addiction has led Adam Jones, chef of a major restaurant in Paris, to lose his two Michelin stars. Fallen from grace, he finds himself in a spiral where everything he touches seems to sink under his feet. Determined not to give up, he packs up all his kitchen equipment and moves to prosperous London.

3- The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014)

American romance/drama film starring Ellen Mirren (who received a Golden Globe nomination), Om Puri, Manish Dayal and Charlotte Le Bon. Hassan Kadam (Dayal) is a naive culinary professional with a palate second to none. The Kadam family, far from their native India and led by Papa (Om Puri), settles in a small town to create a home and open an Indian restaurant, Maison Mumbai.

2- Chef (2014)

American Drama/Comedy. Starring Jon Favreau, John Leguizamo, Emjai Anthony, Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson. Chef Carl Casper, in the midst of a culinary crisis, quits his job at a famous restaurant in Los Angeles and ends up teaming up with his ex-wife, his friend and their son to set up a mobile food stand, where he recovers his roots and his passion.

1- Ratatouille (2007)

Children / United States Comedy. Without hesitation, Ratatouille is the best food movie ever. Winner of awards such as the Golden Globe and the Oscars for Best Animated Feature. Remy is a rat who appreciates good food and has quite a sophisticated palate. His dream is to one day become a great French chef despite opposition from his family.
